Le marketing est le processus de planifier et d’exécuter toute stratégie visant la conception, le prix, la promotion et la distribution de biens, de services et d’idées dans le but de créer des échanges qui satisfont aux besoins des consommateurs et des entreprises.
C’est une spécialité grâce à laquelle le manager gère divers aspects de la fonction marketing dans l’entreprise.
La spécialité en marketing est concernée par l’étude des facteurs (démographiques, économiques, sociaux, technologiques, environnementaux et culturels) impactant la demande de biens de consommation, et d’équipement et de services, permettant d’élaborer les procédures et politiques appropriées afin de satisfaire cette demande.
De nos jours, les managers en marketing doivent maîtriser non seulement les domaines traditionnels tels que les réseaux de distribution, la gestion des ventes, la publicité et l’étude de marchés mais aussi avoir une bonne connaissance des motivations du consommateur et du vendeur. Ce processus requiert d’appréhender les comportements du vendeur et du consommateur dans le contexte de l’environnement global du marché.
